| | | | Color Guard Staff | | | STEPHEN ALIA COLOR GUARD DIRECTOR  Mr. Stephen Alia is proud to direct the award-winning Auburndale Color Guard. Stephen is the Director of Bands at Jere L. Stambaugh, Sr. Middle School, where he directs the Symphonic Band, two Beginning Bands, and the Stambaugh Color Guard. In addition, Stephen is a member of the music education faculty atSoutheastern University in Lakeland, Florida. Stephen was the 2005 Frostproof Middle/Senior High School Teacher of the Year and has been listed in "Who's Who of American Teachers" twice. Stephen is a graduate of Coral Springs High School and has a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from theUniversity of Central Florida. He performed as a member of the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Alia judges marching band, indoor color guard, and indoor percussion as a member of the Central States Judges Association and the Florida Federation Judges Association. His professional affiliations include MENC, FMEA, FBA, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. His active drill design clientele includes the University of South Florida "Herd of Thunder" Marching Band, the Michigan state champion Reeths-Puffer High School marching band, the Auburndale High School Imperial Sound, and high school bands, color guards, and indoor percussion ensembles in Florida and Michigan. | | | ANDREA SZAROWICZ 
Mrs. Andrea Szarowicz is a graduate of Lely High School in Naples, Florida and the University of South Florida, where she was member and captain of the “Herd of Thunder” marching band color guard and earned degrees General Music and Gerontology. After USF, Andrea graduated with her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and is currently a Doctoral Candidate of Education Leadership at the University of South Florida. Andrea joined the Auburndale Color Guard in 2006 and has served in many roles including director, choreographer, and consultant. A highly respected teacher, clinician, and adjudicator, Andrea has worked with many local color guard programs including Land O' Lakes HS, Durant HS, Robinson HS, and J. W. Mitchell H.S. Currently, Andrea is the orchestra and color guard director at Gaither High School in Tampa. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Orchestra Association. | | | KAYLA MOTIS  Miss Kayla Motis is a nursing major at Polk State College. She was a member of the color guard program at Frostproof High School for six years, enjoying Scholastic A class finalist status at seven Winter Guard International Regional events and travelling to Dayton, Ohio for WGI World Championships twice. She has been a choreographer for the Stambaugh Color Guard since its inception and this is her third year with Auburndale. A weapon specialist, Kayla focuses her instructional efforts with our rifle and sabre students. In her “real life,” Kayla always eats dessert first. | | | ALEAH ALIA
Aleah Alia is proud to be a member of the color guard staff for Auburndale High School. Aleah is a dance major at Hillsborough Community College, studying with Christina Acosta and Claire Andrews. In 2009, Aleah was named as a Volunteer of the Year for Polk County Schools for her work with the Stambaugh Middle School color guard. In addition to Auburndale and Stambaugh, she has worked with the color guards from Haines City, Mulberry, Tenoroc, Gaither, and Belding (MI) High Schools as well as the Bands of America Grand National Semi-Finalist Reeths-Puffer High School from Muskegon, Michigan. In 2007, Aleah earned a bronze medal in the Independent A class at the Winter Guard International World Championships with Fahrenheit Winter Guard of Orlando. Aleah is a 2006 graduate of George Jenkins High School where she was captain of the color guard for two years. BOBBY HAZELTON
Bobby Hazelton is the color guard director for Reeths-Puffer High School in Muskegon, Michigan, where he has helped lead the group to five straight Michigan Competing Band Association championships. The Reeths-Puffer schools currently also sponsor five competitive winter guards – two at the high school level, one at the middle school, and two at the intermediate school level. A nationally-known choreographer and clinician, Bobby has directed groups in Florida, Texas, and Michigan. Bobby graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in Pinellas County and marched with Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps and Beyond Winterguard in his performing years. Bobby is currently the Vice-President of the Michigan Color Guard Circuit. Bobby serves as choreographer for the Auburndale color guard, visiting us for extended camps throughout each year. Bobby’s family includes his wife Rachel and their two beautiful daughters, Kathryn and Emma. |
